The Basics:

Learn the ins and outs of parenting from a trauma informed, restorative perspective.  Children and teens that have experienced difficult situations- meaning anything from an accident to more traumatic experiences, affects their ability to connect and behave in productive, healthy ways.  Parents that are informed and confident are better able to support their kids in meaningful ways.

When someone experiences traumatizing experiences in their lives, brain development is compromised, they behave in inappropriate ways, are depressed, abuse substance, and many other coping strategies develop.  Parenting a youth that is struggling to cope is extremely difficult and confusing.  Working with horses provides a unique, experiential opportunity to learn and practice valuable skills for supporting children and teens through these times.   NW Hearts United is dedicated to supporting the parents' ability to better understand what is going on and how to approach it ...resulting in strong, supportive connections.

Every parent desires a close and connected relationship with their children. Despite their best intentions, this relationship is often rife with anxiety, conflict and stress.  There is a way to transform your relationship with your child from disconnection to a deep connection. It requires a new perspective and way of engaging.

You will learn how to:

  • Build deep and empowered connections with your children
  • Disengage from conflict and control and instead connect and bond
  • Handle temper tantrums and teenage outbursts from a place of center and strength
  • Help yourself and your child deal with fears and anxieties
  • Reframe what it means for you and your child to be happy and successful
  • Understand how to approach your child when they are in conflict and meet their inner emotional needs
  • Pave a path for more effective communication during times of stress
